The piece is topped by an openwork crest with large scrolls, plant forms, and a central shell-shaped motif. Around the glass is a black border decorated with flowers and small landscape scenes, framed by gilded moldings.

Measuring 59.5 x 80 cm, it can be used as a wall mirror in entryways, living rooms, bedrooms, offices, or above a console table, especially in classic or eclectic interiors.

History, design, and decorative value

The original function of this antique gilded wood mirror is twofold: to offer a reflective surface and to serve as part of the room's decor. Its vertical structure and the design of the upper crest give the frame as much prominence as the glass itself.

The ornamentation features a Baroque-inspired aesthetic, with abundant carving, curves, scrolls, and plant motifs. No specific date or provenance is assigned as they cannot be confirmed from the photographs.

The antique gilded wood mirror also incorporates a black perimeter band with floral decoration and several oval cartouches featuring landscapes, a contrast that distinguishes this piece from entirely gold frames.

It can currently be placed as a statement piece over a console, in an entryway, between two wall sconces, in a living room, or within an interior design project that combines antique furniture with contemporary elements.
