Guillame or antique molding plane – Woodworking art
Precision hand tool and tradition.
The guillame, or antique molding plane, is a traditional woodworking hand tool designed for shaping, rebating, and leveling wooden surfaces, as well as creating moldings with fine finishes. Unlike a conventional plane, this tool combines the strength of a solid wood body with a precisely fitted iron blade, capable of reaching corners where a regular plane cannot.
This antique molding planestands out for its simple yet highly functional design: a block of hardwood with a natural patina, a sharp blade that protrudes just enough to work the piece, and a central opening that facilitates the removal of shavings. The authenticity of its wear makes it a unique object today, both for those seeking to understand the tradition of the craft and for those who wish to add a vintage and handcrafted touch to their decor.
